Shared Services

The system of choice for Shared Services

The need to deliver more cost-effective services is as relentless as ever and a growing number of local authorities are looking to shared services as a mechanism for delivering savings.  Revenues and Benefits services have long been at the forefront of shared services partnerships, with Capita’s first shared services customer, the highly acclaimed Anglia Revenues Partnership, going live in 2003.

Today, Capita Revenues and Benefits underpins seven shared services partnerships. Between them, these partnerships supply services to 20 local authorities, making Capita Revenues and Benefits the most widely used software solution for Revenues and Benefits shared services. What makes Capita Revenues and Benefits number one?

  • Designed for shared services

    details

A good shared services system should make it easy for shared service staff to work on multiple local authorities’ data as if it was one, whilst at the same time enabling individual local authority’s data to be reported on and accessed individually when required.

For back office processing staff, Capita has developed the Shared Service Desktop.  This enables staff to maximise efficiency by instantly searching and accessing data belonging to multiple local authorities from one single desktop application.  Duplication is reduced and the risk of errors is minimised helping to speed up the process of managing applications and resolving problems.

This principle extends into other system functionality.  Capita’s Quality Assurance module is able to select claims for checking from multiple local authorities and using Capita Mobile Visiting officers can conduct visits for all local authorities in a shared service from a single mobile application.

  • Maintains individual authority identities

    details

Each local authority’s data is kept in a separate database.  As well as making it easy to report on individual authority performance, it also enables local authorities to provide their own customer service.

For local authorities that wish to retain their own contact centre function, Capita can provide CRM integration enabling contact centre staff to access their customer’s data via their CRM system.

The same is true of self service. Customers expect to be able to access revenues and benefits information from their local authority’s website. Capita’s shared service solutions enable each local authority to continue to host a local authority branded self service function on their website, whilst back office processing is undertaken by the shared service.
