“Innovative local authorities have already shown what can be achieved [through sharing services]...The experience of businesses and the local councils that have already taken action have saved money without affecting the quality of service...”
CBI October 2010
As of autumn 2011 we provide shared payment services to 30 organisations. As such we have seen at first hand the very real benefits our customers are experiencing.
Lower overheads achieved via such things as,
• a single instance of payment management software, hosted on a single server.
• a reduction in IT support and skill requirements.
• sharing upgrade and maintenance fees with partner organisation(s).
Cheaper and consolidated card processing rates
Through combining the card transaction volumes of both you and your partners’ it is possible to benefit from lower processing rates that are traditionally only available to larger organisations.
Sharing best practice
By collaboratively working with your shared service partner(s) you are able to identify and share best practice, ways of working and potential future enhancements in your payment management product.
Offering a greater breadth of services to customers
Due to the scale of your operations you may currently not be able to sustainably offer one or more particular service. When sharing services with others the joint pool of resources you have access to grows, meaning you may be able to expand your service offering or extend opening hours, for example. All to the benefit of your customers.
Greater control in the reallocation of staff resources
With a reduction in mundane tasks, or by combining service centres and cash offices with partner organisations, you will have greater flexibility in how you utilise your staff.
