Capita Software Services announces that its revenues and benefits software is live and already benefitting staff and citizens at the new unitary authority Cornwall Council. Now that data from the six district councils is combined on a single system, staff can process information about citizens across Cornwall from any of the Cornwall Council offices, enabling the improvement and standardisation of customer service and processing methods.
Cornwall Council is using the software to administer 53,622 live benefit claims, council tax for 252,675 properties and business rates for 27,273 properties. The successful roll-out of Capita’s revenues and benefits software follows the smooth implementation of Capita’s payment management system in time for the launch of Cornwall Council in April 2009. Capita is also discussing the implementation of a housing software solution with the council.
Mark Read, head of revenues and benefits at Cornwall Council, said: “Capita has been fantastic throughout the process, delivering on time and within budget. It’s been a real partnership exercise.”
Paul Millard, operations director at Capita Software Services, said: “We are really pleased with the way our team has worked with the Cornwall Council staff to continue our record of smooth migrations. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Cornwall Council.”
Before implementing the Capita solution, Cornwall Council reviewed the revenues and benefits software marketplace. The decision to go with Capita was made because the feedback from the district councils already using Capita’s revenues and benefits software was so positive.
